Arborea is an application developed by the SIGA (Fundación ProYungas), which allows the identification and knowledge of the trees, native and exotic feral, of northwestern Argentina. It allows the search of 275 species of trees, palms and cacti. It has 1,367 photos and 182 maps with distribution records in Argentina.Using the scientific or common name, the species of interest can be selected, and their most outstanding botanical characteristics, uses and distribution can be known. You can also enjoy general and detailed photos, and view maps with field records. If the species is not known by the user, a botanical key can be consulted that allows species to be filtered from the general list. The use of the key requires a certain knowledge of botany, although it includes drawings and descriptions that help in its interpretation.ARBOREA brings together the knowledge and field experience of experts from the flora of northern Argentina. It arises from a joint work between researchers and technicians from the ProYungas Foundation, the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences of the National University of Jujuy, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Miguel Lillo Institute of the National University of Tucumán and the Miguel Lillo Foundation. It also has the valuable contribution of images from the Darwinion Institute of Botany, which complement the work. The information used in the species files was taken from the book: GRAU, A, MALIZIA, L and BROWN, A (2016). Arboretum Calilegua: Native and exotic trees of the NOA. Tucumán: Ediciones del Subtrópico (ISBN: 978-987-28168-4-1).Arborea is an application that is in continuous improvement.
